La Crypte Maudite: the scary escape room by Le Manoir de Paris

In addition to presenting its harrowing tour, Le Manoir de Paris has developed two escape rooms. We tried “La Crypte Maudite” (the doomed Crypt) and its immersive and frightening scenario. Successful mission: we didn’t stay locked in this cursed crypt!

Last summer, in addition to its harrowing tours changing every season, Le Manoir de Paris has opened Skeleton Key, two escape rooms with immersive scenarios, “Wanted” and “La Crypte Maudite”.
The particularity of these escape rooms by Le Manoir de Paris? As the tour/show of this haunted house, they’re immersive and include actors (some meaning well, some don’t…).
And since it’s Halloween, we’ve decided to take up the challenge and letting ourselves get locked in the doomed crypt.

To join this famous crypt, you have to climb down under Le Manoir de Paris. A nice moment that first allows us to go away from the screams and shouts escaping from Le Manoir where visitors are turning crazy with the Halloween special show, Asylum.

But this nice feeling doesn’t last long, since, accompanied by the professor – who stays with us all along the game to walk us through our quest – we’re locked in this Doomed Crypt where lies the tomb of the Comte de Saint-Germain, an alchemist from the 18th century. The – fiercely kept – secret of the Ordre de Saint-Germain reigns in this ancestral family vault. We’ll have to face dangers and thwart traps to free the guardian of the curse ruling over the place… without us being locked, of course.

La Crypte Maudite” doesn’t rely on very hard enigmas. You mostly have to look for items, unlock mechanisms and have a hawk eye. This room callas for symbol logic you really have to analyze to understand them.
Since nagging music is played permanently, it adds quite some stress and you have to listen to it very carefully as it has a meaning.
Moreover, mischievous spirits play tricks on you and disturb your thoughts, you may feel like you’re not going anywhere…

At the end of the day, we managed to get out of this tomb in 51 minutes after sprinting and we’re quite surprised as we felt like we were going around in circles.
If this escape room (forbidden to people under 10) is less scary than the two rooms inspired by Saw, actors are very good and make our blood curdle.
This game has been designed for 3 to 8 players and is available in English. But even though there were 4 of us, we were jostling each other so much our vital space is getting narrower.

For this Halloween 2019, will you dare being locked in the “Doomed Crypt”?
