Located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, right in the heart of the Golden Triangle, Les Confidences is the gastronomic restaurant of the San Régis Hotel. Led by Chef Erwan Ledru, this venue offers refined, contemporary French cuisine at affordable prices.
Just a stone's throw from the window displays on Avenue Montaigne, Les Confidences masters the art of understated elegance. Nestled within a centuries-old boutique hotel featuring 30 rooms and 12 suites, the property has been owned by the Géorges family since 1984. This five-star family-run hideaway offers a discreet, intimate retreat that stands apart from the extravagant luxury palaces.
Here, there's no constant flurry of maître d'hôtels or intimidating formalities—space remains quite intimate. Behind glass displays, shrubs and other greenery form a winter garden that offers a breath of fresh air to the room, which is only illuminated by a skylight serving as the opening to the outdoors.
Recently, Chef Erwan Ledru took over the reins of the establishment. Trained at Rech and the Meurice, and having worked at Contraste*, he now offers a straightforward French cuisine. Without flashy demonstrations, the chef aims to elevate the ingredients while respecting their full integrity. At Les Confidences, the dishes feel comforting as much as they thrill, with their rich sauces and complementary textures.
The chicken in poulette sauce (€38), served with confit celery topped with black truffle and finished with lovage condiment, perfectly captures this style. Tender, juicy meat complemented by a flavorful sauce and a subtle hint of lovage, offering indulgence without heaviness—just pure comfort. Even simple pleasure shines through with the smoked haddock (€22), a velvety cauliflower purée paired with a splash of lemon, serving as a straightforward but satisfying starter.
The desserts may take a bolder approach. The cinnamon rice pudding (€14) and hand-churned ice creams (€5) offer an array of unexpected flavors — from an elegant, surprising clove note to chocolate and oat — alongside classic pastry favorites, reimagined in lighter, less sweet versions.
When it comes to sweets, this restaurant really knows its stuff. On the same premises, you'll find pastry chef Jessica Préalpato, whose afternoon tea (€,65, or €85 if you include champagne) draws dessert lovers from Wednesday to Saturday.
The prices are surprisingly reasonable (pleasantly so!) for this exclusive neighborhood. Expect to pay around €45 for a starter/main or main/dessert combo, and €55 for a full starter/main/dessert menu. These feature daily specials – a weekly menu trend that’s making a strong comeback, even in premium spots – alongside à la carte options and the hotel’s classics (Caesar salad, club sandwich, French onion soup).
Ultimately, Les Confidences lives up to its name, with a cuisine that whispers directly to the senses rather than shouting from the rooftops.
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
