A Chinese restaurant yes, but a Hong Kong restaurant please! Opened just a few weeks ago, the new Bolo Bolo Paris restaurant awaits you at 10 rue des Augustins in Paris's 2nd arrondissement.
Bolo Bolo doesn't take its name from beef balls like the Italian Bolognese, but from bolo baos, the popular buns typical of South Asia and found particularly in Hong Kong. So there you have it, the theme is set, this new restaurant invites you to discover, not the Chinese cuisine found everywhere in Paris, but the specific Hong Kong cuisine, from street food to typical drinks like the famous Milk Tea we love so much.
In this restaurant-tea room, we take a break during the day to enjoy the famous Bolo bao, still warm and served with a good piece of semi-salted butter. In Asia, this brioche, which actually means pineapple brioche because of its squared shape and not because of its taste (it contains no aman), is eaten first thing in the morning, accompanied by a good cup of milk tea. Let yourself be tempted by this soft, slightly sweet-shelled treat, which goes wonderfully well with Hong Kong's famous Milk Tea, homemade here from 3 Chinese black teas, infused 10 times in a tea sock for a divine taste. Served with teddy ice cubes to keep them fresh longer, we love it. We're not going to lie, it wakes you up, and if you're craving peach, it's just what you need.
The owner, who had just returned from a vacation in Hong Kong, was keen to rediscover the flavors of this city with its many influences and distinctive dishes. Drawing on the many recipes of his aunt, who owns several successful restaurants in Hong Kong, he decided to open his own restaurant in Paris, offering the same dishes, drinks and food as those found in Hong Kong. Sometimes adapted to French tastes (such as the switch to air foyer for less fat), still seeking adaptations to local products, the restaurant continues to evolve and adapt its recipes.
The restaurant is spacious. A subdued street-food atmosphere, with windows that give the impression of being in the streets of Hong Kong.

A la carte specialties include burger versions of Bolo baos with Peking pork or Peking duck.
We've also got the Curry fish ball that you won't find anywhere else in Paris, the crispy Haa Do Si (fried toast with shrimps) and the famous duck rice.
For dessert, there's the excellent French toast, the milk lava version of French toast, the Ice Bolo Bao with your choice of ice cream (black sesame for us, but you're free to choose vanilla or coconut) or the famous Chinese egg tarts.
So, why not treat yourself to a gourmet break in this resto-salon de thé? Please note that the restaurant is open for lunch and dinner every day except Sunday.
