Right in the center of town, in La Ferté-sous-Jouarre, in the Seine-et-Marne département, Le Trottoir stands at the corner of Rue des Pelletiers and Rue Saint-Nicolas. A neighborhood bistro, the place was conceived as "a little Parisian-style restaurant", says Selva Rajah, its founder. A bistro like in Paris, but in the country, with an attractive home-made menu that changes every three months, depending on the season and what's available.
What's on the menu? There are some great gourmet options on the à la carte menu, with fresh salads in summer, more comforting dishes in winter, but always the classics of French brasserie. Smoked salmon and avocado tartar served with fries, gourmet hamburger, bavette with pepper sauce (also served with fries), beef tartar, egg mayonnaise as a starter... Bonus for the fries, which are also homemade.
For children, a special Pitchounes menu is available for €8.90, including a dish (steak frites or fried chicken croquettes), ice cream and a drink.
On the sweet side, we advise you to go for the beautiful ice cream cups in summer, or treat yourself to one of the gourmet desserts prepared in minute. Brioche perdue topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, lemon tart, île flottante or crème brûlée.... Not forgetting the inevitable café gourmand.
Prices range from €4.20 to €7.90 for starters, €12.90 to €18.90 for main courses and €4.90 to €7.90 for desserts. A great place to treat yourself if you're passing through La Ferté-sous-Jouarre!
