In the 17th district on rue des Dames, Les Frérots blends a passion for fine cuisine with a warm family atmosphere. Named after two brothers, Antoine and Guillaume, this is their first joint restaurant venture, following a previous stint in the 16th arrondissement.
Tables for two, lively communal tables, and a back room available for private hire: the space accommodates all preferences, from bustling lunch hours to extended evening dinners. It’s lively, filled with laughter, and reservations quickly become essential—especially at lunchtime.
The menu can be roughly divided into two parts. On one side, a classic bistro offering hearty meats, tartare, and fish & chips. There are also lunch deals at €17 for the daily special, and a €21 combo including a main course and dessert. On the other side, the main reason many stop by: the burgers (ranging from €16.90 to €21), which are crafted with a gourmet touch and well-sourced ingredients.
The bun recipe was crafted by the brothers themselves, with French meats, local ingredients used as much as possible, and robust regional cheeses taking pride of place. Each new recipe — changing every 3 to 4 months — is meticulously developed down to the smallest detail, even if it takes several weeks to find the perfect cheddar to pair with the house’s top-selling burger: the Les Frérots Burger (€18.90).
Made with Aubrac beef, crispy bacon, caramelized onions, pickles, mesclun greens, and a smoky barbecue sauce, the burger arrives at the table piping hot, accompanied by a small pot of cheddar poured tableside. A visual treat, the cheese blankets the burger smoothly—without overwhelming or drowning the ingredients—unlike some overly excessive versions sometimes seen on social media. Here, balance is key.
It's worth noting that, depending on dietary preferences, meat can be offered in a vegetarian alternative or as a crispy chicken.
The appetizers don’t fall short either. The crispy chicken quesadillas (€15) are seriously impressive, packed with melted cheddar, fresh guacamole, and homemade spicy mayonnaise. We couldn’t get enough and would happily order a second round. Even the chips served at the start are homemade, showcasing the brothers’ dedication to serving both quality and flavor.
From the careful selection of bottles to the overall experience, this spot truly stands out. Antoine, trained in Shanghai, brings a sharp, well-curated wine list that veers off the beaten path. These lively, sometimes unexpected bottles perfectly complement the cuisine. It’s an approach that elevates the whole experience far beyond your typical burger joint !
