The September 10, 2025 strike hits public transport in the Paris region this Wednesday . While disruptions are concentrated mainly on SNCF lines managed by Transilien, some impacts will also affect certain RATP lines. We take a look at the detailed traffic forecasts to help you plan your journeys in the capital and the Paris region.
On the main lines, SNCF has not announced any strike action, but acts of malice and sabotage on various lines may lead to blockages and cancellations.
This nationwide social movement is protesting the Bayrou government's budget-saving measures, notably the abolition of two public holidays and the 43.8 billion euros in savings announced for 2026. The mobilization, organized via social networks by the"Bloquons tout" collective, is reminiscent in scale of the popular protest movements of recent years.
Note: following the protests at Châtelet, all stations at Châtelet Les Halles, Les Halles and Châtelet have been closed for security reasons, both metro and RER.
The Paris metro network should be operating normally this September 10. RATP has announced normal traffic levels on all 14 metro lines, including automated lines 1, 4, 6, 9, 11 and 14, which do not require drivers. Commuters can therefore rely on their usual lines to get around Paris.
RER traffic forecasts vary considerably according to line and operator:
The Transilien network is experiencing major difficulties this Wednesday, with several levels of disruption:
The surface transport network is enjoying a better situation this Wednesday:
There are a number of tools available to help you keep track of traffic throughout the strike day. TheBonjour RATP application provides real-time information on traffic conditions and the best alternative routes. The SNCF Connect website provides up-to-date timetables for trains in operation.
The official websites of RATP and Transilien provide regular line-by-line traffic updates. These platforms remain the benchmarks for obtaining the most reliable information before you travel.
Faced with the announced disruptions, Parisians have several options. For those who can, telecommuting remains the preferred option. Île-de-France boasts over 8,700 km of cycle paths, providing a credible alternative for local journeys.
The Bonjour RATP application, a partner of Dott, Lime and Vélib', enables users to locate and rent over 35,000 self-service bikes and scooters in the region. Automated metro lines are generally less affected than other lines requiring rolling stock.
The strike on September 10 is part of a tense social sequence that will continue on September 18 with a unified union call-out at RATP. These two dates reflect a deep-seated dissatisfaction with the government's budgetary policies, against a backdrop of strong social mobilization in the autumn of 2025.
