The 1st arrondissement of Paris takes us to the historic heart of the capital. Here, we find ourselves at the crossroads of different eras. On theÎle de la Cité, straddling the 1st and 4th arrondissements of Paris, we follow in the footsteps ofancient Lutetia, and find the Palais de Justice, the Sainte-Chapelle and its thousand stained-glass windows, and the Conciergerie, a vestige ofmedieval Paris , where Marie-Antoinette was imprisoned during the French Revolution. Not far from there, you'll find the famous Place Dauphine, a haven of relaxation for Parisians past and present, especially in fine weather.
Along the banks of the Seine, we also find the famous Louvre Museum and the iconic Jardin des Tuileries, while on the other side of the beautiful rue de Rivoli, the gardens of the Palais-Royal fill us with wonder as we stroll along, opening the way to some of the capital' s most beautiful covered passageways , including the Galerie Vivienne, which takes us through to the 2nd arrondissement. At the crossroads of FaubourgSaint-Honoré and the Opéra district, Place Vendôme epitomizes luxury à la Française. At Les Halles, we find ourselves in the heart of one of the capital's oldest districts, where the beautiful church of Saint-Eustache dominates the Forum des Halles shopping center.
