A fresh look by the Chalais lake: Mlle Céleste, the new restaurant from the Bistrots Pas Parisiens, sets up shop in the heart of the Hangar Y park in Meudon, in the Hauts-de-Seine (92). To compose its menu, the house has recruited two-Michelin-starred chef Yoann Conte, whose first plates are expected this autumn 2026. While his menu, currently in trials, makes its way to the tables, a first seasonal slate already lets guests settle in at the former Les Roseaux restaurant.
With this address, the group opens its 15th venue. And it isn’t planning to stop there: two more openings are slated by the end of 2026. We followed the arrival of Bistrots Pas Parisiens at Hangar Y at the start of summer. Now, the venue reveals the new face of the place.
Until now, the Hangar Y restaurant operated under the name Roseaux. Les Bistrots Pas Parisiens are taking over and starting almost from a blank page: a new identity, new front-of-house teams, and a new head chef. The decor, for its part, was already in place. The forest, the pond, and the postcard-worthy view didn’t wait for the group to win diners over.
The rest was yet to be written. Bistrots Pas Parisiens brings in what has defined them for more than ten years: seasonal cooking, carefully chosen ingredients, and tables that invite you to linger. The group, born from the initiative of Stéphane Rotenberg and led by Hakim Gaouaoui, now counts roughly fifteen homes just a ten-minute ride from Porte Maillot, each with its own character.
The concept goes beyond just a meal. Mlle Céleste is envisioned as a place to live, where people come to lunch or dine, but also to linger over a drink on the terrace or celebrate a major occasion. The work on the project continues: the terrasse is set to be completely redesigned by the summer of 2027, to become a warm space where guests can settle in from morning to night facing the pond.
Let us be clear from the outset: the tasting menu we tried isn’t Yoann Conte’s current menu. The chef’s menu debuts on October 13, 2026. The good news for your wallet, however, is that the three-course menu (starter, main course and dessert) at €39.99 will remain in effect before and after the new chef’s menu.
For starters, the menu teases between the superb organic egg in poule au pot style—a comforting nod to grandma’s kitchen—and Maison Metzger’s smoked beef carpaccio. If you’re after something lighter, the tuna tartare with avocado or the creamy burrata from Italy are the tempting options.
On the mains front, the chicken supreme sits beside a rare salmon in phyllo pastry, finished with a pepper coulis, or ravioli for those preferring something leaner. Red-meat fans can opt for the Bavette d'aloyau from Maison Metzger, with a €5 supplement on the menu.
To round things off, the “competition-grade” floating island catches the eye, as does the incredible chocolate. The fruit desserts—strawberries and watermelon—signal that the menu was conceived at the tail end of summer. It will evolve with the seasons, and Yoann Conte’s menu, still in the testing phase, shouldn’t be long in coming.
Yoann Conte’s name resonates with food lovers. The chef runs La Table de Yoann Conte in Veyrier-du-Lac, on the shores of Lake Annecy, a restaurant awarded two Michelin stars. In 2024, Gault&Millau named him Chef of the Year. You’ll also recognize him from “La meilleure cuisine régionale,” the show he hosts alongside Norbert on M6.
Here he goes from one lake to the next, trading Alpine waters for the Chalais pond. In this collaboration, he explores a register different from his Haute-Savoie menu: a cuisine that gives more character to the ingredients, in a gastronomy-forward yet approachable spirit. His menu is currently in testing, with a rollout to tables planned through autumn 2026.
This isn’t the group’s first foray into partnering with Michelin-starred chefs. In Sèvres, the Bistrot Micheline, housed in a former train station, for example collaborates with Gilles Goujon. It’s a signature approach of the Bistrots Pas Parisiens: top-notch cooking served in an atmosphere that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Starting this autumn, Mlle Céleste will launch a high-end Sunday brunch, with a particular focus on families. While parents enjoy a refined setting and attentive service, children will have a space of their own.
Games, a dedicated kids’ menu and supervising staff are on offer for the youngest visitors — turning Sunday brunch into a genuine break for adults, without having to keep a constant eye on the table. Set on a sprawling estate, Hangar Y also hides a lakeside, summertime guinguette that opens up with the season. A water-side terrace replaces the fishing corners, with long communal tables and food trucks sure to delight visitors seeking a generous slice of green, leafy nature.
The Hangar Y began life as a gallery for the 1878 Universal Exposition in Paris. Instead of being destroyed, it was dismantled piece by piece and reassembled in Meudon, tucked between the forest and the Chalais pond. A grand, life‑size construction toy, in essence.
Here is where France was born, the first airship capable of going wherever it was steered. On August 9, 1884, it rose above the pond, completed its circuit, and landed exactly back at its starting point. A world first, to be sure.
Listed as a historic monument, the building has been brought back to life by entrepreneur and patron Frédéric Jousset, who reopened it to the public in 2023. From October 17, 2026, it will host the exhibition The Eye of Paris devoted to photographer Brassaï, on view until February 21, 2027.
The restaurant sits among the trees, by the water, far from the hustle of the city. The park’s parking makes it easy to access and suggests a genuine day-long escape. You can start with a stroll along the outdoor contemporary art trail, which scatters its sculptures among the trees.
After the exhibition and lunch, you can extend the moment with a drink at the guinguette du Hangar Y in warm weather. A full day, blending heritage, nature and dining, all without leaving the inner suburbs.
Mlle Céleste sits in the heart of Hangar Y Park, at 9 Avenue de Trivaux in Meudon. The restaurant welcomes guests Tuesday through Saturday for lunch and dinner, and Sundays for brunch. Hours may change with the seasons, so it's best to check the official Mlle Céleste reservations page, where online bookings are also available.
By public transport, the simplest route is the RER C to Meudon-Val-Fleury, then bus 289 to the Cimetière de Trivaux stop. Groups of 30 or more and privatization requests go through the dedicated form of Bistrots Pas Parisiens. The Hangar Y practical information details how to access the park.
This address speaks to Île-de-France residents craving a breath of fresh air without hours on the road, to families seeking a brunch where kids are welcome, and to the curious who want to keep tabs on the arrival of a two-star Michelin chef in a setting more relaxed than a fine-dining room. The €39.99 menu also makes it a good option for a no-fuss lunch in a leafy, countryside vibe.
A quick tip: be sure to book, especially for Sunday brunch. Also keep in mind that the current menu isn’t yet Yoann Conte’s, with his menu still being tested; the dishes listed here are therefore likely to change. If you plan to stroll through the park before dining, note that the stroll is free on weekdays but comes with a fee on weekends.
