Housed under a glass roof overlooking the marble courtyard of the Four Seasons George V, the L'Orangerie restaurant has just undergone a facelift. Known for its gourmet cuisine, the restaurant now offers an even more immersive experience, thanks to a décor designed by architect Pierre-Yves Rochon. The style is natural, soft and elegant, with noble materials, beige hues, light wood and subdued lighting. We're off to discover this double Michelin-starred restaurant in its new setting.
Most impressive of all is the sculpture suspended from the ceiling: a work of art composed of thousands of hand-crafted porcelain leaves and roses. This unique installation gives the impression of dining under a floral canopy. It changes with the light of the day, transforming the ambiance of the place as the hours go by.
The furniture, too, has been custom-designed, with tables, curtains and chairs crafted by French artisans. Even the plates and dishes used are handmade, to match the presentation of the food served.
In this new dining room, chef Alan Taudon offers precise cuisine focused on seasonal produce. He composes his menus according to what the land and sea have to offer, with well-balanced, visually stunning dishes.
During our visit, we sampled the "Signature Experience" menu. It starts with onions slow-cooked over coals, with a smoky, melt-in-your-mouth flavor.Sea urchin comes in creamy pearls. The scallops recall the sea spray, and the langoustine, cooked to perfection, reveals a soft, delicate texture.
Turbot is served in a flavorful marine broth. Then, a lively touch of bergamot refreshes the palate before an original pre-dessert combining meringue, lemon caviar and kombu.
Finally, a dessert of French toast, caramel, buckwheat ice cream and rye praline, followed by gourmet mignardises.
With its bright, soothing new dining room, L'Orangerie offers much more than just a meal. Every detail is designed to provide a visual and gourmet experience. Here's a great place to discover modern gourmet cuisine in a unique setting in the heart of Paris.
As you'd expect, this experience comes at a price: €285 for the discovery menu and €350 for the tasting menu. It's designed for special occasions, and with its new romantic setting featuring hundreds of roses, it's the ideal setting for a romantic dinner.
