Also known as Peking ravioli or Chinese ravioli,jiaozi—which originated in China 1,800 years ago—are made from soft wheat flour. Filled with a variety of fillings, usually minced meat or seafood, mushrooms, and vegetables, they are then steamed, boiled, or fried.

Found in Cantonese, Sichuanese, and Shanghainese cuisine, wontons are also very popular ravioli. Made with pork, shrimp, or bok choy, the famous Chinese cabbage, they are enjoyed fried and dipped in a more or less spicy sauce, but more commonly in acomforting soup. 

In Japan, dumplings are called gyoza. Stuffed with pork, cabbage, and other ingredients, they can be steamed, fried, or pan-fried. In Tibet and Nepal, it is common to find momos in restaurants, fried or steamed, with meat, cheese, or vegetables, to be dipped in a spicy sauce.
