The spearhead of French patisserie according to many, macaroons can be enjoyed in Paris's patisseries. Here are the best addresses!

AFrench almondpastry with two crunchy shells enclosing a creamy, chocolatey or fruity filling, the macaron is one of the treasures of French gastronomy, appreciated by Parisians and tourists from all over the world alike.

Macaroons have a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages, first introduced in Italy under the name maccherone. However, the modern version of the macaron is often attributed to the famous French patisserie Ladurée, which popularized the macaron by offering it in a wide variety of colors and flavors from the 19th century onwards.

Considered a symbol of French patisserie the world over, the macaron is available in a wide range of classic flavors - chocolate, coffee, lemon, vanilla, pistachio, raspberry - as well as more surprising recipes, such as rose, peanut, lychee, rosemary or cinnamon.

If you want to be sure of finding a good macaroon in Paris, here's a list of the best places to try one!
