Fans of fried chicken and homemade roast chicken, there’s a new address to know in the 13ᵉ arrondissement de Paris. Chiv's Koy has just opened its doors on Rue Véronèse, in a larger street-food space than their first restaurant in the 11th, with seating for about thirty—perfect for a family outing, a night with friends, or simply grabbing and going.
The name says it all: Chiv for the family name, Koy for the Teochew pronunciation of the word "poulet" (chicken), a nod to the way of making chicken the Chiv way. Behind this project lies a family story firmly rooted in the Paris dining scene. The father has been roasting poultry at markets around Paris since 1993. His two sons, who grew up helping him among the stalls, eventually turned a shared dream into reality: opening a restaurant to share these family recipes with as many people as possible. That dream has been realized since October 2020, first in the 11th arrondissement, and now here, in a neighborhood the family knows well, where they already offered their specialties at a local food market.
Rue Véronèse, tucked a bit away from the bustling heart of the 13th arrondissement, serves up a real surprise. The space is simple, no-frills, with just enough to settle in and eat comfortably. The setting isn’t the point here—it's the chicken that takes the spotlight.
The menu centers entirely on chicken, prepared roasted or fried, depending on your craving. The signature bowls offer a nice overview: the Classic Bowl with roasted chicken thigh, vegetable rice, and allocos priced at €14, the Cheezy Bowl with crispy boneless fried chicken, house fries, and cheddar at €15, and the Salad Bowl for those seeking lightness and flavor at €13. We were won over by the chicken thigh paired with allocos—those little fried plantains that bring a welcome sweetness to the whole.
Fans of burger and wrap will also be spoiled for choice with the famed chicken burger or the CK wrap, available in a 15€ package that includes fries, sauce, and a drink. And for big tables or XXL appetites, the buckets are on offer: an XL Koy bucket for 28€ for two (20 wings or 12 tenders, 2 fries, 2 drinks, 2 sauces) or an XXL Koy bucket for 50€ for four. Perfect for a hassle-free shared meal.
What makes Chiv's Koy stand out are the house-made sauces. The CK green sauce, the CK mayo, the CK Dynamite for spice lovers, or the CK Tender and CK Cheddar… each has its own character and suits the restaurant’s various preparations. We particularly enjoyed the CK green sauce, soft and fragrant, a refreshing change from the usual staples.
On the sides, the selection at Chiv's Koy is varied: plain rice, vegetable rice, salad, homemade fries, sautéed potatoes, or alloco. You can end with a house tiramisu for €4, if there's still room.
To end on a sweet note, the house serves its homemade desserts: tiramisu, indulgent cookies, or churros to dip in Nutella. Not a grand dessert menu, but a few well‑chosen treats to conclude the meal without weighing you down.
Chiv's Koy is a solid spot for homemade chicken, no-fuss dining, whether you’re eating in or grabbing it to go. The menus, carefully priced at €15 to €16, live up to what you’d expect from a quality street-food restaurant in Paris. It’s the kind of place you’d keep in mind for a quick lunch or a laid-back dinner. The venue keeps its updates on its Instagram account.
Chiv's Koy sits on rue Véronese in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, just a stone's throw from the Place d'Italie. The spot is accessible by the metro on line 14 (Bibliothèque François-Mitterrand station) or line 6 (Chevaleret station).
Our take: a genuinely family-run spot, solid homemade recipes, and sauces that truly stand out. We go there to treat ourselves without ceremony—solo, as a couple, or with friends. Perfect for street food enthusiasts who want home-cooked quality at a fair price. That said, it’s a fast-casual street-food joint—don’t expect a stuffy atmosphere, but a friendly, convivial vibe.
Who it's for: fried and roasted chicken fans, groups of friends, families with kids, and anyone looking for great value in the 13th arrondissement.
