Opened by Caves Carrière, La Riotte is a lively French bistro that inevitably revolves around the cellar's fine vintages.

From vine to glass. Caves Carrière, the Burgundy wine merchant, has decided to discover the end of the wine chain by opening La Riotte, a French bistro a stone's throw from the Gare Saint-Lazare train station. Behind the address are Éric Carrière, the founder of Caves Carrière, Loïc Chalier, a former soccer scout who has now turned to the restaurant business, and chef Yohann Chapuis, a former chef at Alain Passard, who signs the menu.

In Burgundy, a riotte refers to a small plot of vineyard, but also, more poetically, to a harmless dispute that can easily be resolved over a good meal or a good bottle of wine. And that's precisely the ambition of this French restaurant , which relies on a friendly and, at lunchtime, even a little noisy atmosphere.

The restaurant is open non-stop, from Tuesday to Sunday, and we strongly advise you to make a reservation for lunch, as it's a victim of its own success. It has to be said that the restaurant is ideally located in a business district, and boasts a very large 50-seat terrace (and even 70 seats in spring-summer thanks to its additional temporary terrace).

Chef Yohann Chapuis imagined the restaurant's menu to be halfway between a bouchon and a Parisian brasserie, so it's only natural to find a (very) generous slice of pâté en croûte (19€), escargots persillés, onion soup au gratin, croque-monsieur, oeufs mimosa, steak tartare and sole meunière, croque-monsieur, oeufs mimosa, steak tartare and sole meunière, for typical French brasserie fare, but also oeufs Meurette (17€) and quenelle de brochet (24€) for the bouchon side.

Prices include a €23.90 lunch menu with daily specials and gourmet coffee, and a €13 menu for children who want to eat well alongside their parents.

The other fundamental pillar of La Riotte is, of course, its 200-strong wine list, featuring wines from large and small estates, vintage wines and more affordable vintages, available by the glass, by the bottle and with food and wine pairings. Regular customers and wine connoisseurs can even subscribe to the Club for access to Caves Carrière's 6,000 references, by ordering in advance on the website the fine bottle that will be served to them at table when they come to the restaurant.

But cocktail lovers won't be outdone: for lunch and dinner, the in-house barman is busy bringing out creative proposals such as the Generous Panacotta cocktail (gin, pistachio distillate, rosemary/vanilla syrup, lime, egg white, rosemary garnish; €13) or the more classic Paloma 1800 (tequilla, agave syrup, grapefruit soda, lime; €12).

An address for lovers of good bottles and good food.
