High up on the Butte Montmartre, l'Almanach Montmartre is a restaurant that combines bistronomy and art.

At the very top of the Butte Montmartre, on the gourmet Rue Ramey (where you'll find Pagaille, Nakatsu and Meha, next door), you'll find L'Almanach Montmartre, a restaurant that combines art and cuisine.

While the cuisine is bistronomic, created by chef/owner Léo Giorgis, art is plural, with artist residencies exhibited for several months on the walls of the establishment. For the next four months, the walls of L'Almanach Montmartre will host the monochrome white works of artist Janique Bourget, some of which are made from salt.

It's a singular and quite unique experience that can be viewed and tasted, as the chef proposes plates inspired by the paintings on display during each exhibition. The very definition of cuisine d'auteur.

On the à la carte menu, chef Léo Giorgis imagines French cuisine tinged with inspirations from the four corners of the globe, but always with a notion of comfort and generosity that follows the seasons.

There's nothing classic about the ravioles forestières (28€), oblong and made from rice sheets, filled with mushroom duxelles, topped with a mushroom emulsion, sautéed oyster mushrooms and shiso oil. The fine, rustic-looking tartelette (14€) continues the forestry theme, with sautéed mushrooms, onion confit and the same mushroom espuma.

The fregola sarda is accompanied by salmon and bottarga, the roasted halloumi (14€) dips in a generous oregano butter, while the crème brûlée (13€) is delicately paired with jasmine. But the great classics of French cuisine are also well represented, such as the stuffed cabbage with its Robuchon-style purée, and the crêpes Suzette (13€) deliciously topped with their orange and caramel sauce, a very guilty pleasure.

And let's not forget another of the season's must-try delights, raclette, here in mini format and available in three flavors - smoked, pepper and wild garlic - with lomo and pommes grenaille on the side. Prices are unbeatable: €20 for a starter/main course or main course/dessert, €24 for a starter/main course/dessert for lunch, €38 and €48 for dinner.

A very good reason to climb the Butte.
