La Véranda, the brasserie-restaurant of the Trianon Palace in its green setting at Versailles

La Véranda at the Waldorf Astoria Versailles -Trianon Palace, a chic brasserie set in the grounds of the Domaine de Trianon, offers contemporary French cuisine in a bright, hushed setting. A large part of its charm lies in its unobstructed view over the gardens of the Château de Versailles. As its name suggests, this symmetrical restaurant, like Gordon Ramsay's Michelin-starred table in the left wing, is located under a large bay window. La Véranda is reached after crossing the Trianon Palace's long columned corridor , an almost ritual passage before discovering the restaurant 's light-filled room. The interior, designed by Fiona Thompson, combines classic sobriety with discreet comfort , extended by a shaded terrace that opens onto the park. In the evening, you can admire the sunset over the park while enjoying your meal in peace and quiet.

At the table, the menu designed by Frédéric Larquemin, ExecutiveChef of the Peacock Alley restaurant and bar, focuses on a certain gastronomic rigor , far removed from the usual tricks of the trade.

For starters , the Pâté en Croûtewith poultry, duck and foie gras is a consistent performer, with a fine , crisp pastry and a dense, well-seasoned filling . Special mention goes to the superb salmonballotine , served as a suggestion, which combines freshness and precision, with just the right amount ofseasoning .

The sole meunière, served whole and accompanied by steamedpotatoes , captivates with its perfectly controlled cooking and flawless service , carried out with efficiency in the dining room. The spicedduck breast , meanwhile , strikes a balance between sweetness and aromatic strength with its dolce forte sauce , enhanced by candied garlic and melting baby carrots . The flavors are clearly present, and the cooking precise.

As for desserts, the menu changes according to the desires and creations of talented Pâtissier Eddie Benghanem. We're seduced by the tangySicilianlemon tart , with its well-baked pastry and soft, discreet meringue . The Saint-Honoré , revisited with pear as we passed, is light, crisp and creamy .

The service, present without ostentation, accompanies us in a serene rhythm , adapted to both international and local customers. Open every day , La Véranda welcomes you in the morning. On weekdays, lunch is served from 12pm to 2.30pm, and dinner from 7pm to 10.30pm. On weekends , lunch starts at 12:30. Please note that dogs weighing less than 35 kilos are allowed in the restaurant, provided they are kept on a leash.
