Yoni Saada is back in town! This Fall, the chef takes over the new restaurant of the Hôtel de Nell, Phenice. On the menu of Phenice, Mediterranean cuisine filled with sun which is as hearty as flavorful as likely to be shared.

Chef Yoni Saada is moving to the hôtel de Nell in Paris 9th arrondissement. He took over Phenice kitchen – the latest restaurant of the 5-star hotel set on Grands Boulevards.

Founder of Bagnard (Mediterranean canteens mostly serving pans bagnat), Yoni Saada now serves sunny food at Phenice.

On the olive tree wood tables of the dining room – covered in deep blue and decorated by Jean-Michel Wilmotte – one can enjoy Mediterranean gastronomy. The food is hearty, likely to be shared, and often mixing sweet and savory flavors.

On the menu of Phenice, some manchego/truffe pita. A Lebanese version of truffle pizza with Spanish ewe's milk cheese, mushrooms, and spring onions. A starter that smells a lot like truffle, whetting one's appetite, and that must be shared because it is very generous.

Sticking to starters, Yoni Saada also serves gravlax salmon glazed with beetroot seasonned with sumac and served with pomegranate. Here, the sweet and sour mix works wonder. As for the hummus, it is served with praline, another example of a dish mixing sweet and savory flavors.

Moving on to main courses, truffle is still the watchword. It is served with cured beef, very tender meat, perfectly cooked. A dish serves with a side of French fries served with truffle as well. The menu also features panko chicken schnitzel with mashed potatoes and seaweed butter. How original!

Last but not least, for a sweet touch, Yoni Saada has selected chocolates from Jacques Genin and pistachio ice cream by Lebanese ice-cream maker Bachir. Such as pistachio but also blackberry.

One is warmly greeted by Nicolas in the dining room. But moving on to drinks, Phenice serves classic cocktails with alcohol (margarita, americano, gin tonic, cosmo...), as well as alcohol-free creations. The Rosa is based on mashed raspberries, lemonade, fresh raspberries and sweet rose water, so good!
