For these Journées du Patrimoine 2023, held on September 16 and 17, many places in the capital are being highlighted. In Paris, monuments, libraries, secondary schools and high schools join museums in opening their doors to the public, for a day of incredible discoveries!
Throughout the weekend, guided tours, workshops and many other activities take us behind the scenes of the capital's most famous landmarks, to meet the people behind our heritage, which is unique in the world. This year, the focus is on living heritage and the heritage of sport.
Have you heard of the Journées du Patrimoine? Since 1984, this major cultural event has been held in museums, monuments, churches, concert halls, businesses, gardens and cemeteries in over 50 countries. Tens of thousands of buildings open their doors to us free of charge, so that visitors can discover their history and special features. This is often an opportunity to admire places that are closed to the public, such as companies, ministries or backstage at theaters!
