Privé de Dessert opens in the Batignolles

Trompe l’œil specialist Privé de Dessert opens a third address in Paris. After the 9th and 12th arrondissements, Privé de Dessert takes over the 17th arrondissement with a new restaurant.

After two restaurants, the first open in Pigalle for six years now and the second by the marché d’Aligre, open last year, Privé de Dessert, also known as the master of the trompe l’oeil, gets for September 2019 a new and third address in Paris. On September 17, 2019, Privé de Dessert will install a new dessert bar in the Batignolles area.

This new warm and cozy spot in western Paris bathes in a modern and industrial decor with pop culture accent paintings and candies hanging on the walls.

Privé de Dessert teams really enjoys concocting starters and main courses that sound and look like dessert and vice versa, they twist the codes of the aperitif and cocktails to offer a sweet offer. We don't know where to start.

For the appetizer, Privé de Dessert provides classic cocktails to which are added homemade creations including pastry cocktails, such as the Tiramisu or the Lemon Pie the day we came. The Lemon Pie is topped with some Italian meringue that has been blowtorched. It's based on vodka, lemon and crumble. It's a very original and delicious recipe.

As a starter, at Privé de Dessert, you can choose between Paris-Brest (with duck breats), chocolate tart (confit chicken and cocoa seasonned poultry juice), the opera (salmon rillettes and barley bread), the milkshake (tomato and mozzarella gazpacho) and pancakes (blinis and seabream ceviche). If you don't know what to have, go for the coffee and gourmet desserts so that you can taste to (almost) every starters.

Moving on to main courses, it's Saint-Honoré (burger), waffle, banana split (blue fin tuna and plantain) or even crumble (cod loin with vegetables and Thai sauce, covered in savory crumble of course).

Last but not least, if you think you can still eat some dessert (and I don't know since portions are very hearty), you'll have to choose between the pot-au-feu (pudding), spaghetti carbonara (lemon meringue pie) or fried egg. This Caribbean dish is actually made of white chocolate mousse and coconut, mango-passion fruit cream and shortbread.
